The CBI, which is investigating the Chief Engineer Vimal Negi death case, on Tuesday called five officers and employees of the Police SIT to the CBI office for questioning. The officers and employees reached the CBI office at around 11:30. The CBI officers spoke to the five police officers and employees separately. They were questioned till 3:45. They will be called again for questioning. Before the High Court handed over the case to the CBI, the Police SIT was investigating the Vimal Negi death case. The CBI has taken all the records from the Police SIT. On the other hand, the Police SIT has taken the mobile phones of 7 engineers and employees of the Power Corporation into custody. The CBI has sent these mobile phones for forensic investigation in New Delhi.
The CBI has asked for 25 thousand pages of original records from HPPCL on the death of Vimal Negi. The Power Corporation had given photocopies of 25 thousand pages of records to the Police SIT, but the CBI has refused to take the photocopies. Now this record has to be made available to the CBI by the corporation within two days. The CBI has also called the Engineer Association of the Power Corporation to the office. When Vimal Negi’s body was recovered and kept outside the office, the association had protested and made allegations against the officers. In such a situation, evidence has to be collected by talking to them. At the same time, the CBI team that went to Ghumarwin has also returned to Shimla.
Before the CBI investigation, the state government had entrusted the responsibility of conducting the administrative investigation to Additional Chief Secretary Omkar Sharma. During this time, the CBI will now call all the employees and officers who were talked to. The officers who have been accused are also to be questioned. It is worth mentioning that the CBI has collected facts from Vimal Negi’s wife and brother. They were also called to the CBI office twice. The CBI team is going to many places and taking the investigation forward. The allegations related to mental pressure on Vimal Negi are being investigated. The administrative investigation report of the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), the affidavit of the former Director General of Police and the status report of the Police SIT are also being studied.
