Wheels of HRTC buses to stop in Himachal; Drivers and conductors demand clearance of dues

These include 65 months of overtime, arrears of dearness allowance, arrears of 4-9-14 and arrears of 2016 pay commission.

After three days, the wheels of more than 3079 buses of Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam (HRTC) will stop in the state. If the state government does not clear the dues of HRTC drivers and conductors, then from 12 midnight of 9 March, HRTC drivers and conductors will go on strike for 72 hours i.e. three days.

HRTC Drivers Union President Mansingh Thakur said that the union had given an ultimatum to the government to fulfill the demands by 6 March. But instead of clearing all the dues, the government has talked about giving 5 crores. Now the drivers and conductors will not withdraw the decision of strike with the lollipop of 5 crores.

Mansingh said that the government has three days’ time. Either all their dues should be cleared or the drivers and conductors of the corporation will go on strike. He said that HRTC employees have a liability of more than 100 crore rupees. These include 65 months of overtime, arrears of dearness allowance, arrears of 4-9-14 and arrears of 2016 pay commission.

Man Singh Thakur said Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had announced an installment of Rs 59 crore on the foundation day of HRTC last year. But the employees have not received this amount yet. The corporation vice-president has also assured to release Rs 5 crore.

The employees union has made it clear that Rs 5-10 crore will not suffice. They are demanding a full Rs 59 crore. If a solution is not found, the strike will begin from 11:59 pm on March 9. This will completely halt the bus services of the state.
