Himachal Pradesh: While taking a selfie near Nehru Kund in the tourist town of Manali in Kullu district, two tourists slipped and got swept away in the Beas river. Manali police team has recovered the body of the girl, while the search is on for the young man. According to the information, the girl was taking a selfie on the banks of Beas and suddenly her foot slipped and she was swept away in the Beas river.
To save the girl, the fellow youth jumped into the river and was swept away by the strong current. The police have informed the family about this incident. The body of the girl has been recovered by the police near Manali, while the search for the young man is going on.
The deceased girl has been identified as Ruchi Tiwari (22), daughter of Hanuman Prasad Tiwari, resident of Madhya Pradesh. The youth has been identified as Saurabh Shah (33), son ofthe late Nikhil Shah, resident of Hyderabad.
As soon as information about this incident took place in the afternoon, DSP KD Sharma and police station in-charge Mukesh Rathore reached the spot with the police team. Started searching for the young man and woman who fell in Nehru Kund. The girl’s body was found a long distance from the incident site. With the help of JCB, police personnel took out the body of the girl trapped in the river, while no trace of the young man has been found yet. DSP Manali KD Sharma said that the search for the youth is going on. He urged the tourists not to go to the river bank. The water level of Beas is increasing every day. He said that the police will patrol the river banks and take legal action against those who indulge in mischief in the river. Other police posts have also been informed about the incident and the banks of river Beas are being searched with the help of local people.
