Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh has said that women have an important place in society. The present government is making efforts and working continuously for the upliftment of women and making them self-reliant.
He said that women empowerment is very important to empower women by instilling confidence in them and protecting their rights. The government is making efforts to ensure the participation of women in every field.
He further said that along with running various schemes for the upliftment of women, 50 percent of seats have been reserved for women while strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions so that women can live with pride by contesting elections and ensuring their participation and developing their home, village and society.
Vikramaditya Singh was speaking as the chief guest at the Mahila Sammelan organized for the women of Tutu block in Banuti of Gram Panchayat Dudhalti under Shimla Rural Assembly constituency.
He said that during the two years of the present government, an amount of about Rs 60 lakh has been sanctioned to 39 Mahila Mandals. He said that women play an important role in politics and at the same time they are also doing self-employment work through self-help groups.
He said that the present government is taking forward the development work done by former Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh.
