Hindus should unite to avoid situation like Bangladesh in India: Dhirendra Shastri

New Delhi: Amidst the growing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, several prominent religious leaders on Thursday called for Hindus in India to unite. They said that without collective efforts, a similar situation could arise in the country.

 Message from Dhirendra Shastri and Jagadguru Rambhadracharya

Religious leader Dhirendra Krishna Shastri said that recent events in Bangladesh are a warning for India. He said, *“If you don’t want a situation like Bangladesh to arise in your country, this is the right time. If Hindus don’t unite today, it won’t be long before the streets of Chhattisgarh see a situation like Bangladesh.”

Jagatguru Rambhadracharya also called on people not to remain silent, saying, *“We must not remain silent now. All Hindus must unite and give a strong response to these atrocities.”

Violence and Protests in Bangladesh

Widespread unrest erupted in Bangladesh following the death of prominent student leader Sharif Osman Hadi. Hadi’s death sparked nationwide protests. Furthermore, in Mymensingh district, a Hindu youth, Dipu Chandra Das, was allegedly beaten to death and his body burned by a mob for his secularism.

On December 23, a large crowd gathered outside the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, demanding protection for minorities. On December 24, the Awami League claimed that the number of deaths in prison and police custody had increased, and that this was causing fear rather than security.

Political Crisis and the Return of the BNP Chairperson

Bangladesh National Party (BNP) Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman returned to Dhaka after 17 years in exile. His arrival could further escalate the political crisis. Violence and tension have been rising in Bangladesh since the announcement of the election schedule, and political analysts say Rahman’s return could further destabilize the situation.
