Hisar: Union Bank ATM Uprooted, Thieves Flee with ₹6.67 Lakh Cash; Similar Theft Reported in 2021

Balsamand: Thieves uprooted a Union Bank of India ATM in Bhiwani Rohilla village, Hisar district, late Saturday night. They fled with ₹6,67,400 in cash from the machine. Upon receiving the information, the Balsamand police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

Bank employees had shut down the ATM, located on the Balsamand-Bhadra main road, on Saturday evening. Sometime after 2:00 AM, unidentified thieves targeted the ATM, uprooted the entire machine, and escaped with the cash.

Bank officials informed the police after discovering the incident on Sunday morning. The Balsamand police arrived at the site and began an investigation. They are currently examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the perpetrators.

    Experts Summoned to the Scene

Ravindra Kumar, in-charge of the Balsamand police post, stated that the police team reached the location immediately. Forensic teams, including fingerprint experts, have also been called in. Evidence is being collected from the scene, and recordings from nearby cameras are being scrutinized. The police claim that the accused will soon be identified and arrested.

ATM Had Also Been Targeted in 2021

This same Union Bank ATM in Bhiwani Rohilla had previously been targeted by thieves in 2021. At that time, miscreants had used a gas cutter to slice open the ATM machine and steal ₹3,82,700.

To conceal their identities, the thieves had also cut the CCTV camera cables. This second major theft at the same ATM has raised serious questions regarding the security arrangements in the area.
