Newly Appointed Hisar DEO Takes Charge, Plants Sapling to Promote Green Initiative

Hisar: Ramratan, the newly appointed District Education Officer (DEO) of Hisar, undertook an inspiring initiative to convey a message of environmental conservation before formally assuming his duties. He visited the PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School in Dhandur, where he planted a sapling in the ‘Bal Vatika’ (Children’s Garden) located within the school premises and subsequently took charge of his office.

District Education Officer Ramratan planted a Mahogany sapling within the school grounds. He emphasized that there is a profound connection between nature and education. Students, he noted, should be taught not only academic knowledge derived from books but also a sense of responsibility towards the environment. He urged the teachers, students, and villagers present at the event to plant as many trees as possible and to ensure their proper care.

He stated that trees and plants serve as the “lungs of nature.” Just as breathing is essential for human beings, trees are indispensable for the Earth. Alongside education, it is our moral responsibility to ensure a clean, safe, and green environment for future generations. Environmental conservation, he asserted, should not remain merely a campaign but must become an integral part of our lifestyle.

Promoting a Green Environment: Ramratan

He affirmed that, in his capacity as the District Education Officer, his endeavour would be to foster a green environment across all government schools within the district. To this end, the concept of “One Student, One Tree” will be actively encouraged, aiming to cultivate a love for nature and a sense of environmental responsibility among students right from their childhood.

He further remarked that if every student were to plant just one sapling during their lifetime and nurture it, a significant transformation in the realm of environmental conservation would be entirely possible.

During the program held within the school premises, teachers, village representatives, and social activists also lauded this tree-plantation initiative. Those present observed that an official choosing to plant a tree before formally assuming office sends an inspiring message to society and will undoubtedly help foster greater awareness regarding environmental conservation.

Present Attendees

On this occasion, members of the school staff including School In-Charge Sangeeta, former Principal Vijendra Shastri, Sonia, Mamta, Janaki, Deepak, Ramniwas, Sunita, Narpal, and Sultan were present. Additionally, Suchcha Singh (President of the School Management Committee/SMC), Satpal Sarpanch, farmer leader Sandeep Siwach and other dignitaries participated in the event; while welcoming the newly appointed District Education Officer, they lauded this commendable initiative.

At the conclusion of the program, those present resolved not to limit the tree-plantation drive to a mere formality but to also commit themselves to the regular care and conservation of the saplings.
