Hisar: Market Association President Alleges Abuse, Death Threat; Police Complaint Filed

Hisar: Akshay Malik, president of the Rajguru Market Association, has alleged that he and his associates were threatened with dire consequences by a group of unidentified men in the PLA area of Hisar on Saturday night. A written complaint has been submitted to the police, seeking strict legal action against the accused and protection for the complainants.

According to Malik, the incident took place around 9 p.m. when he had gone to inspect a plot opposite Lazeez Restaurant. He alleged that while returning, a group of unidentified men, some of whom arrived in a white car while others were already present at the parking area, began abusing him and his companions.

‘You Refugees Are Going to Teach Us?’

In the complaint, Akshay Malik, Gautam Narang and Sunny Mehta alleged that the accused made derogatory remarks, referring to them as “refugees.”

According to the complainants, the accused allegedly said, “You refugees are going to teach us? Are you going to teach us how to eat, live and earn a living?”

Malik further alleged that one of the men pointed a finger at his chest and threatened to shoot him in the future.

Complainants Allege They Were Chased

The complainants alleged that when they attempted to leave the area to avoid a confrontation, the accused followed them in a white car while continuing to abuse and threaten them.

They claimed the accused warned them that they would “deal with” them and allegedly threatened to shoot them.

The victims stated in their complaint that they fear for their safety and have requested police protection.

Incident Comes Amid Ongoing Debate Over ‘Refugee’ Remark

The incident comes amid an ongoing debate over the use of the term “refugee” for members of the Punjabi community.

Akshay Malik has previously spoken out against the use of the term and has participated in campaigns urging public representatives to refrain from using it. Representatives of the Punjabi community had also submitted a memorandum to political leaders, demanding that the term not be used, calling it an issue of dignity and identity.

Police Yet to Issue Detailed Statement

The complaint was submitted at the PLA Police Outpost late on Saturday night. Police have received the complaint, and further action is expected after examining the allegations and available evidence.
