Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court is currently hearing the case of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who was interviewed while in police custody. The Punjab government has informed the court that action has been initiated against the officers implicated in this case.
Show cause notices have been issued to the former SSP, SP, DSP, and the former CIA in-charge. It has been established that the initial interview took place in CIA Kharar, and the second interview took place in neighboring State Rajasthan Jail.
During the hearing, the High Court inquired about the current postings of the officers who were issued show cause notices. The government informed the court that the disciplinary action against the officers has commenced.
The court ordered the Punjab government to provide this information in the form of an affidavit. Specifically, the court asked about the current posting of Shiv Kumar, the in-charge of Kharar CIA. The government’s lawyer mentioned that Shiv Kumar has retired but has been granted an extension. The court asked for details regarding the basis for granting the extension.
