A horrific accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Ujhani Kotwali area of Budaun. Six women lost their lives due to the negligence of two tractor drivers, and three people were injured. The injured have been admitted to the Government Medical College. Following the accident, one driver sped away with his tractor and trolley, while the other abandoned his vehicle at the scene and fled.
The police have seized the abandoned tractor and trolley and have launched a search for both drivers. Upon receiving the news, the District Magistrate (DM) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) arrived at the scene to take stock of the situation.
Accident in the Phoolpur Area
According to reports, two tractor drivers were racing on the highway in the Phoolpur area—located between Kachhla and Ujhani—on Wednesday afternoon. During the race, the speeding tractors collided with an e-rickshaw. The impact was so severe that the e-rickshaw was completely mangled. The women and others traveling in it sustained serious injuries. Chaos and screams erupted at the scene immediately after the crash, drawing a crowd of onlookers. Police arrived upon notification and rushed the injured to the hospital, where six women were declared dead. Three people, including the rickshaw driver Sunny (32) and Dal Singh (58), were injured in the accident; they have been admitted to the Government Medical College.
