Horrific accident in Kanpur: Scorpio crashes into a stationary truck; three dead, nine injured

A severe road accident occurred on the Kanpur-Prayagraj National Highway within the Maharajpur police station area on Monday morning. A speeding Scorpio SUV collided with a truck parked on the highway near the ‘New JK Dhaba’ in Ruma.

The impact was so violent that the vehicle was mangled, and the scene was filled with screams and chaos. The accident took place around 5:30 AM.

The Scorpio (vehicle number HR 14M 9501) was traveling from Sirsa, Haryana, to Bihar with 12 people on board. According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control while trying to avoid an unidentified vehicle, causing the Scorpio to crash into the rear of the parked truck.

A 45-year-old man, a 13-year-old girl, and a boy aged approximately nine, all occupants of the Scorpio, died on the spot. Upon receiving the information, the Maharajpur police and an NHAI team arrived at the scene, removed the damaged vehicle with a crane, and restored traffic flow.

Injured rushed to Kanshiram Hospital 

Nine critically injured individuals were transported to Kanshiram Hospital by ambulance. After receiving initial treatment there, they were all referred to Hallet Hospital. The injured include two women, four men, and three young girls. Among those admitted are Himanshu, Neel Yadav, and Keshav Bharti, along with three girls—Anisha, Sneha, and another seven-year-old girl. The condition of two women and one man remains critical. The police have taken possession of the three bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations. The matter is currently under investigation.
