House Collapses after Cylinder Explosion in Varanasi; Siblings die, two injured

On Tuesday morning, a brother and sister lost their lives in a gas cylinder explosion at a house near the Lahartara private bus stand, located within the Manduadih police station area of ​​Varanasi district.

Four family members—including an elderly relative—sustained injuries after being trapped beneath the debris of the house, which collapsed due to the blast. Police from the Varuna Zone, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad and a Dog Squad, have investigated the scene. All injured individuals have been admitted to the BHU Trauma Center.

According to the police, Om Kumar Chaudhary (30) and Preeti (27) succumbed to their injuries, while other family members—Aman Chaudhary (31) and the elderly Girija Devi (60)—sustained injuries. A team from the Municipal Corporation is currently engaged in the process of clearing the debris. The Fire Brigade, a forensic team, and the Bomb Disposal Squad are conducting further investigations.

An explosion shook the entire area 

The entire Lahartara area was shaken on Tuesday morning by the sudden sound of an explosion. Upon rushing outside to investigate, residents discovered that a house had completely collapsed. Locals reported that the structure gave way following a cylinder blast, trapping four people beneath the rubble. A JCB machine was summoned to the site to assist in clearing the debris. Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Squad and Dog Squad teams arrived at the scene to conduct an inspection.

Two succumbed to injuries, two other injured 

A frantic rescue operation was launched to transport all the victims to the BHU Trauma Center. Tragically, the brother and sister passed away at the hospital, while two others remain critically injured. The injured individuals have been identified as Aman Chaudhary (31) and the elderly woman, Girija Devi (60).

Following the incident, an atmosphere of chaos and panic prevailed at the scene. Upon receiving the information, the police and other emergency teams arrived at the site to carry out relief and rescue operations. The two fatalities have caused immense grief and commotion in the area.
