Over 100 cases of stubble burning reported in single day, total count reaches 743

For the first time this season, more than 100 cases of stubble burning were recorded in a single day. On Sunday, stubble burning occurred at 122 locations across Punjab, compared to only 28 on Saturday. So far this year, 743 cases of stubble burning have been reported.

According to experts, the sudden increase in stubble-burning cases is due to the accelerated paddy harvesting. These cases will increase further in the coming days, leading to suffocating air in Punjab. However, on Sunday, the AQI was recorded below 200 in most cities across the state.

Tarn Taran leads in stubble burning 

Statistically, Amritsar district was leading in stubble burning during the current season, but now Tarn Taran district has become number one with 224 cases. After Tarn Taran, the highest number of cases (154) have been reported from Amritsar district, 80 from Ferozepur, 39 from Patiala, 38 from Gurdaspur, 47 from Sangrur, 29 from Kapurthala, 19 from Bathinda, 13 each from Fazilka and Jalandhar, six from Barnala, eight each from Ludhiana, Moga and Mansa, 13 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 10 each from Muktsar and Faridkot, two from SBS Nagar, three from Hoshiarpur, four from Malerkotla.

28 cases in Tarn Taran on Sunday
If we talk about Sunday, Tarn Taran also reported the highest number of stubble burning cases with 28 cases. 19 cases of stubble burning were reported in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s own district Sangrur, 10 in Amritsar, one each in Barnala, Fazilka, Hoshiarpur and Moga, six in Bathinda, seven in Fatehgarh Sahib, three each in Faridkot, Ludhiana and Mansa, 11 in Ferozepur, nine in Gurdaspur, two each in Jalandhar and SAS Nagar, seven in Kapurthala, four each in Muktsar and Patiala.
