Man Kills Wife With Rod Over Land Registration Dispute, Arrested

In Banswara, the husband killed his wife by hitting her on the head with a rod. The bleeding woman continued to suffer in the house. The accused husband escaped from the spot, which was later detained by the police.

The incident took place around 7:30 am on Thursday in Nabipura area of Kotwali police station area. There was a dispute between the two about the property for a long time. On Thursday morning, husband Suraj Maeda had a quarrel with his wife Itri Maeda (32) over the issue of getting the land in his name.

1. Pressure to get the land in your name

ASI Chandraveer Singh of Kotwali police station said- The Pihar of Itri Maida is in Surpur Dhani (Banswara). She was married to Suraj, son of Dhanji Maida, a resident of Nabipura (Banswara). Some time ago, a piece of land was purchased in Surpur Dhani, which was registered in the name of the wife. The accused husband was constantly pressuring him to get the land in his name. There was a domestic dispute between the two for a long time about this matter.

2. Attacked with a rod after a dispute in the morning

The accused Suraj’s elder brother Gautam said that the husband and wife were present at home at around 7:30 am on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, the argument between the two started again about the name of the land. During this time, Itari was cleaning the dishes.

Then the angry sun picked up the iron rod kept in the house and attacked the wife’s head. The attack was so powerful that Itri fell on the spot in a pool of blood. After the incident, Suraj fled from the spot.

Gautam said, “Hearing screams from the house, he reached the spot. The seriously injured Itri was taken to the district hospital in an autorickshaw. However, by the time we reached the hospital, it was too late. After examination, Itari was declared dead by the doctors.

3. Police detained the accused husband

Kotwali police officer Budharam Bishnoi stated – After the incident, the accused husband Suraj Maida, who had fled, was detained. The body of Itari has been kept in the district hospital morgue.

The police said that after receiving reports from the maternal side and relatives, a post-mortem will be conducted. Further legal action in the matter is ongoing.

Itari and Suraj have three sons. The accused Suraj Maida works in painting and plastering.
