Jalandhar, Punjab: A shocking murder case has surfaced from Sagar Enclave in Jalandhar, where a husband allegedly killed his wife by repeatedly attacking her on the head with a frying pan after a domestic dispute.

The deceased has been identified as Sita Devi (48), while the accused husband is Santosh Vishwakarma (55), both originally from Nepal. The couple had reportedly shifted to the area and rented a house nearly 10 to 15 days ago.

According to police and local residents, the incident took place on Sunday morning while the couple was alone at home. Their elder son had gone to work, while the younger son was downstairs using his mobile phone.

During this time, an argument reportedly broke out between the husband and wife. In a fit of rage, Santosh allegedly attacked Sita multiple times on the head with a frying pan.

The assault was so severe that the woman suffered critical head injuries and died on the spot.

Son Rushed Mother to Hospital

Neighbors said the family’s elder son was informed about the incident while he was at work. After reaching home, he immediately took his injured mother to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Residents claimed that after committing the crime, the accused himself went to the police station and told officers, “I have killed my wife, arrest me.”

However, police later stated that the accused had not surrendered and was currently absconding.

Police Searching for Accused

ASI Balveer Singh from Lambra police station said police have traced the accused’s location and raids are being conducted to arrest him soon.

Police also revealed that Santosh Vishwakarma already has a murder case registered against him in Nepal.

Questions Raised Over Tenant Verification

Following the incident, locals raised concerns regarding police verification of tenants and migrants in the area.

Vijay Yadav, district coordinator of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and a resident of Sagar Enclave, claimed he had repeatedly requested local police and landlords to carry out proper tenant verification, but no action was taken.

Investigation Underway

After receiving information, teams from Lambra police station and DSP Kartarpur reached the scene. The body was taken into custody and sent for postmortem examination.

Police are also questioning the landlord over how the couple was allowed to stay without proper identification and verification documents.

The motive behind the couple’s argument is yet to be officially confirmed, and further investigation is ongoing.
