Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Militant in Northern Gaza, IDF Says

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its troops killed a Palestinian militant in northern Gaza after he allegedly crossed into an Israeli-controlled area and posed an immediate threat.

In a statement issued Saturday (local time), the IDF said the individual crossed the “Yellow Line,” which marks Israeli-controlled zones under the ongoing ceasefire arrangement.

IDF: Troops Responded to Immediate Threat

According to the IDF, soldiers identified the suspect approaching their position after crossing the designated line and acted to neutralise what they described as an immediate danger.

“IDF troops in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat,” the military said.

Reports of Injuries in Southern and Central Gaza

Meanwhile, WAFA, Palestine’s official news agency, reported that several Palestinians were wounded earlier Saturday by Israeli forces during building demolitions in southern and central Gaza.

The reports come amid ongoing tensions despite the ceasefire framework that took effect in October 2025.

85% of Gaza Population Needs Emergency Relief: Minister

Palestinian Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad said that approximately 85 per cent of Gaza’s population now requires emergency relief and recovery support.

Speaking to reporters in Ramallah, she said the number of families in need has surged from 86,000 before the war to around 320,000 currently.

“The situation in the Gaza Strip is becoming increasingly difficult, and the main reason is the Israeli occupation’s refusal to allow the entry of essential supplies,” Hamad said.

She added that her ministry is coordinating with international and UN bodies to secure financial support and press for the entry of food, medicine, and other basic necessities.

Aid Deliveries Fall Short of Target

The Hamas-run Gaza media office stated earlier this week that 31,178 trucks had entered the enclave since the ceasefire agreement took effect on October 10, 2025, out of a planned total of 72,000.

According to the office, the shipments — including humanitarian aid, commercial goods, and fuel — represent about 43 per cent of the expected volume.

Amjad al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network, told Xinhua News Agency that humanitarian assistance is declining due to ongoing Israeli restrictions and operational obstacles faced by international organisations.

He added that medical supplies currently meet only about 10 per cent of actual demand in the enclave.

Ceasefire Holds Amid Ongoing Strain

While the ceasefire agreement remains formally in place, the latest developments highlight continued security incidents and mounting humanitarian pressures in Gaza.

Tensions persist on the ground as both military operations and aid access remain central points of contention.
