Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir successfully neutralized an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by terrorists along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway early on Wednesday morning. The explosive was discovered near Narbal on the national highway at around 7 am, prompting swift action by authorities.
Upon spotting a suspicious briefcase at the roadside, security personnel immediately cordoned off the area and halted traffic to ensure public safety. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to assess the device. After conducting a safety sweep, the squad destroyed the IED safely without causing damage to people, vehicles, or infrastructure.
Traffic on this strategically important route connecting Srinagar and Baramulla was temporarily suspended as a safety precaution while the bomb squad worked. Once the device was destroyed and the area sanitized, normal traffic flow resumed.
This incident highlights ongoing efforts by security forces in the Kashmir Valley to detect and respond to potential terror threats on key transport routes. Similar IED finds have been reported previously along this highway and other areas, leading to prompt disposal by bomb squads to avert tragedies.
