Illegal liquor seized in Jalandhar: Excise department raid at two places, two accused arrested

The Excise Department in Jalandhar launched a strict campaign against illegal liquor and raided two different locations. During this operation, the department seized a total of 62.77 liters of Punjab King liquor. Two accused were arrested at the spot and FIRs have been registered against them in the respective police stations.

Action under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner

The department achieved this success under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Excise) S.K. Garg and the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Navjeet Singh (Jalandhar Range-2). The department is continuously maintaining vigilance to prevent the illegal liquor trade.

Liquor recovered from the basement of a shop in Raj Nagar

The first raid was conducted in Raj Nagar, Basti Bawa Khel, on Kapurthala Road. A team comprising Excise Officer Jaspreet Singh and Inspector Manjit Singh Dhindsa, along with police personnel, searched the basement of a shop located behind a juice corner.

Accused arrested at the scene

During a basement search, 230 pints (41.4 liters) of ‘Punjab King’ brand liquor were recovered. Police arrested the accused, Baldeep Singh, on the spot. FIR No. 36 has been registered at the Basti Bawa Khela police station.

Second major operation in Kanpur village

Excise Inspector Somanth Mahi, along with police from Maksudan police station, conducted the second operation in Kanpur village. The team recovered 57 pints (21.375 liters) of ‘Punjab King’ liquor.

Case filed against accused from Bihar

Accused Gopi Bhagat, a resident of Madhepura, Bihar, has been arrested in this case. Legal action has been initiated against the accused at Maksudan police station.
