Illegal LPG Refilling Racket Busted in Delhi’s Palam, Three Arrested

New Delhi: The South-West District Police on Thursday uncovered a major illegal LPG storage and refilling operation running from a vacant plot in Palam Village. Three individuals, including a driver and delivery workers, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the unauthorised activity.

Police Raid Leads to Major Seizure

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West District), the operation was carried out by the team of PS Palam Village. The accused have been identified as Anaar Singh, a resident of Jai Vihar Phase-1, Najafgarh (driver), Satyaveer from Tamil Enclave, Vijay Enclave, Dabri (delivery boy), and Vikas Kumar from Raj Nagar-II, Palam (assistant delivery boy).

During the raid, police recovered a tempo and 45 Bharat Gas domestic cylinders from the spot.

    Illegal Refilling Without Safety Measures

Police officials stated that the raid was conducted on March 28 following a tip-off received during routine patrolling. A team comprising SI R.P. Meena, HC Rajesh, and HC Lalit Kumar reached the location at Adarsh Gali, Palam Village, where they found a tempo loaded with LPG cylinders.

On inspection, authorities discovered that gas was being illegally transferred from one cylinder to another using nozzles and a weighing machine, without any safety precautions. The cylinders were stored both inside the vehicle and in the open plot.

No Licence, Plot Taken on Rent for Illegal Activity

During questioning, the accused failed to produce any valid licence or permission for storing LPG cylinders. They admitted that the plot had been rented specifically for illegal storage and refilling of gas for profit.

Investigations also revealed that the activity was allegedly being carried out by staff associated with Blue Flame Gas Service in Janakpuri. Officials from the SDM office in Dwarka, along with representatives from BPCL and the Food Safety Department, inspected the site and confirmed the illegal operation.

    Case Registered, Equipment Seized

Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Goel confirmed that, along with the cylinders, three gas transfer nozzles and a weighing machine were also seized from the accused.

Police have registered a case under the Essential Commodities Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). All seized items, including the cylinders, equipment, and the vehicle, have been taken into custody as part of the investigation.
