Impact of Monsoon: Two trains on the Kalka-Shimla track suspended until August 5

Amidst continuous monsoon rains and the rising risk of landslides on the Kalka-Shimla railway track, the Railways has decided to temporarily suspend the operation of two trains until August 5 as a precautionary measure. A decline in passenger numbers during this period was also a key factor in this decision.

According to a notification issued by the Railway Board, the 52451 Shivalik Deluxe Express (Kalka to Shimla) and its return service, the 52452 Shivalik Deluxe Express, will not operate until August 5.

Additionally, the 52459 Kalka-Shimla Express and its return service, the 52460 Shimla-Kalka Express, have also been cancelled for the same period. Persistent rainfall in the region over the past few days has created a risk of landslides at several locations along the Kalka-Shimla railway route.

Consequently, the railway administration took this decision while prioritizing passenger safety. However, four other trains will continue to operate regularly on the Kalka-Shimla track.
