Imphal, April 13: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Monday reviewed the ongoing expansion work at Imphal Airport, stressing the need for timely completion and high-quality infrastructure development to boost air connectivity in the state.

During the site inspection, officials briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of terminal expansion, passenger handling upgrades, and associated infrastructure improvements. The project aims to increase capacity and modernize facilities in line with growing air traffic demand in the region.

N. Biren Singh stated that improved aviation infrastructure is crucial for Manipur’s economic development, particularly in enhancing tourism, trade, and connectivity with other parts of India.

He directed concerned departments and executing agencies to maintain strict quality standards while ensuring that construction work remains on schedule. The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of the airport as a key gateway for the state and the wider Northeast region.

The expansion of Imphal Airport is expected to significantly improve passenger capacity and provide smoother travel experiences once completed, supporting the state’s long-term development and connectivity goals.
