Important decision for employees working on contract in Punjab, 65048 outsourced workers to get benefits

An important meeting of the Punjab Cabinet was held at the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh. During this meeting, an important decision was taken regarding the contractual system in Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a press conference after the Punjab Cabinet meeting.

Addressing the press conference after the Punjab Cabinet meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that his government will bring 2 bills in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to abolish the contractual job system from the state and provide regular jobs to the youth.

Announcing this, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the Punjab Chief Minister said that firemen, sewerage men and other government employees who have jobs that are considered hazardous will be regularized on completion of three years of service.

CM Mann further said that the employees will get all the benefits of government service. This scheme will be implemented in 51 departments. He said that other employees who are considered non-hazardous will have to complete five years of service to get the benefit of this scheme. Around 18000 government employees are likely to get the benefit of this scheme.

He said that after passing these bills in the Vidhan Sabha, they will be sent to the Governor for his approval, and after his approval, appropriate laws will be implemented in the state to provide benefits to these outsourced and contractual employees.

Punjab Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha was also present with the Punjab Chief Minister during the press conference.
