Punjab Industry Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond hoists flag in Jalandhar on 79th Independence Day

Jalandhar, August 15: On the occasion of 79th Independence Day, Punjab’s Industry Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond hoisted the flag at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium of Jalandhar. Minister Sond, who was present as the chief guest, took the salute of the parade after hoisting the flag and wished Happy Independence Day. After which he took a round of the ground in a government vehicle along with Jalandhar DC Himanshu Aggarwal and Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur.

In the ceremony, children from various schools of the city gave colourful presentations based on folk songs and Punjabi culture. During this, people who made outstanding contributions to the city and the state were also honoured.

Ahead of the event, ADGP NRI RK Jaswal, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur and senior police officers on Thursday conducted a comprehensive security inspection of the stadium and surrounding areas. The VIP enclosure, auditorium, parade ground, spectator gallery, adjoining high-rise buildings, parking zones and entry-exit routes were thoroughly checked.

The minister said- Our government did big work for the progress of Punjab

Punjab’s Industry Minister Taranpreet Singh Sond while congratulating all the officials and the people of Punjab said that Punjabis have made the most sacrifices during the freedom struggle. Immediately after Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann became the CM, he went to Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s village and took the oath of Chief Minister and also ordered that pictures of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. BR Ambedkar will be put up in every government office.

He said to provide maximum facilities to the people of Punjab, the Punjab government provided many things like Aam Aadmi Clinic, free electricity, action against drugs and many other things to the people of Punjab. Due to which Punjab is moving towards progress.

The minister said- Punjab has achieved the first position in education by defeating Kerala

He further said-  Even before our government was formed, it was promised that if the government is formed, electricity will be given free of cost. As soon as the government was formed, the first announcement was made that up to 600 units of electricity will be given free to the people of Punjab.

Farmers are being given more than 8 hours of free electricity for farming during the paddy season. Education and health are the most important concerns of the government, towards which our government is working rapidly. In this effort, we have achieved the first position by leaving behind a state like Kerala, he said.

Minister Sond said- To provide good education in Punjab, our government sent teachers of government schools abroad and got them trained there, so that they can teach in our Punjab like the education provided abroad.
