India beats Pakistan by six wickets in Asia Cup 2025; Abhishek Sharma shines with 74

Dubai: India registered a commanding six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash on Sunday, with opener Abhishek Sharma leading the charge with a blistering 74 off 39 balls.

Partnering with Shubman Gill, who scored 47 off 28 deliveries, the pair put together a 105-run opening stand, setting the foundation for India’s successful chase of 172.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav’s decision to field first after winning the toss proved crucial. Pakistan posted 171/5 in their 20 overs, with opener Sahibzada Farhan top-scoring with 58. However, Pakistan’s innings was marked by fielding lapses, as Farhan was dropped twice and India missed four catches in total. Shivam Dube emerged as the standout bowler for India, claiming 2/33 in his four overs.

The match witnessed on-field tension, with Sharma clashing with Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and controversy over Sahibzada’s celebrations adding to the intensity of the encounter. Sanju Samson managed 13 off 17 for India, while Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a duck.

Teams made strategic changes ahead of the match. India recalled Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy, replacing Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, while Pakistan brought in Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat in place of Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah.

The victory marks India’s second dominant win over Pakistan in the tournament and boosts their momentum in the Super 4 stage. With aggressive batting at the top and tight bowling performances, India continues to assert themselves as strong contenders for the Asia Cup title.
