INDIA Bloc Takes Protest to Supreme Court, Seeks Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation

New Delhi: Amidst heavy security and barricades by the Delhi Police, INDIA Bloc leaders began a protest march towards the Supreme Court on Monday. Opposition leaders announced their intention to seek legal intervention to protect democratic and constitutional rights.

Opposition parties also demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, alleging irregularities in the election process and “vote theft.”

Preparations to submit memorandum to the Supreme Court

Congress MP Manish Tewari told reporters that the opposition wants to submit a memorandum to the Supreme Court. He said, “We want to submit a memorandum to the Honorable Supreme Court. Therefore, the entire opposition is collectively marching towards Barakhamba Road. Let’s see what happens next.”

Congress leader Sandeep Dixit said that this protest is not a new initiative, but part of a long-running campaign.

She alleged that the campaign has been ongoing since Rahul Gandhi first raised the issue of Special Intensive Review (SIR) at Indira Gandhi Bhavan. Dikshit claimed that the SIR process was false and misleading based on facts.

She said that the campaign has drawn public attention to the issue and has involved students, organizations, and political parties. She vowed to continue the movement.

Accused the BJP of Fearing Loss of Power

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi alleged that the BJP feared losing power. He said, “The BJP is scared. It knows it won’t hold power for long.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh also demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, saying, “Vote theft; Gyanesh Kumar should resign.”

AAP Delhi unit president Saurabh Bhardwaj said they were heading to Jantar Mantar and would see if the police stopped them or allowed them to proceed. He said he has the right to express his views.

Tejashwi Yadav Accuses the Election Commission

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said his party has been continuously fighting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. He explained that this campaign was initiated in Bihar.

Yadav alleged that the Election Commission has become a puppet of the BJP and is aiding alleged vote theft and fraudulent elections.

He said, “Democracy is being crushed. How can we remain silent when democracy is constantly being attacked and weakened?”

Kharge and Rahul Gandhi also joined the march

Meanwhile, a bus carrying Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and other leaders of the INDIA bloc departed from the Constitution Club of India as the opposition’s protest march began.

Opposition leaders raised their concerns about alleged irregularities in the election process and reiterated their demand for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.
