India Donates 6 Advanced Ambulances to Afghanistan

Kabul/New Delhi: India has handed over six modern ambulances equipped with advanced medical equipment to Afghanistan. This move is aimed at strengthening health cooperation between the two countries.

The ambulances are capable of transporting emergency patients and providing urgent health services. Taliban Health Ministry spokesperson Sharafat Zaman Amarkhail said that India’s assistance will significantly contribute to improving emergency health services and care in Afghanistan.

Part of high-level agreements

This ambulance delivery is part of the high-level talks held in New Delhi in October, attended by Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Afghan Foreign Minister Mulavi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

During the meeting, Jaishankar described it as 20 ambulances, a symbol of goodwill. He also said that India would send MRI and CT scan machines, vaccines for immunization, cancer medicines, and drug rehabilitation materials through UNODC to Afghanistan.

Increased Health Cooperation Between the Two Countries

Earlier this month, Afghan Health Minister Mulavi Noor Jalal Jalali met with Indian Minister of Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda** in New Delhi and discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector.

Key discussions included:

Enhancing health cooperation
Sharing expertise among doctors
Capacity building of Afghan health workers
Ensuring the supply of quality medicines
Cancer treatment and medical visas for Afghan patients

Nadda assured continued support to the Afghan people and confirmed sending a CT scan machine, medicines, and vaccines to a children’s hospital in Kabul. Over the past four years, India has provided 327 tons of medicines and vaccines to Afghanistan, and additional medical assistance is under consideration.
