New Delhi: India’s industrial sector recorded strong growth of 7.3 per cent year-on-year in June 2026, supported by a robust performance in the manufacturing, electricity and gas supply sectors, according to government data released on Tuesday.
The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) stood at 123.1 in June 2026, compared with 114.7 in June 2025, reflecting a significant improvement in industrial activity.
Manufacturing Sector Leads Growth
The manufacturing sector registered a growth of 7.8 per cent in June, emerging as the biggest contributor to overall industrial expansion.
Out of 23 industry groups under the National Industrial Classification (NIC) 2-digit level, 19 sectors recorded positive growth during the month compared to June last year.

Electricity Sector Records Double-Digit Growth
The electricity and gas supply sector recorded the highest growth rate among major sectors, expanding by 10.6 per cent in June.
Other sectors also reported positive growth:
The indices for Mining and Quarrying, Manufacturing, Electricity and Gas Supply, and Water Supply sectors stood at 110.0, 123.3, 131.0 and 145.7, respectively.
Government Revises Previous Month Data
Along with the June IIP figures, the government also carried out a final revision of the May 2026 industrial production data based on updated information received from source agencies.
The quick estimates for June were compiled with an 86.7 per cent weighted response rate, while the revised May figures were prepared with a 93.1 per cent response rate.
The next release of IIP data for July 2026 is scheduled for August 28, 2026, the statement said.
