India Issues Strong Warning to Iran After Tanker Firing in Hormuz Strait

New India: India has sent a strong message to Iran after its navy fired on two Indian oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz. According to officials, there were no casualties in the incident, although the cabin glass of one of the ships was broken.

India Expresses Displeasure, Protests at Diplomatic Level

New Delhi has taken a strong stance on the incident and made it clear to Tehran that such actions will have consequences. India’s Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador and lodged a strong protest and expressed deep displeasure over the incident.

India Tough on Attempt to Collect Tolls

According to sources, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is attempting to collect tolls from ships passing through this sea route, but India has made it clear that it will not pay any tolls.

Both ships—Jag Arnav and Sanmar Herald—were forced to return after Iranian naval fire north of Oman.

Energy Dependence and Rising Global Tensions

India is among the countries with the largest number of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, reflecting its dependence on energy imports from the Gulf region.

Amid ongoing tensions with the United States, Iran has described India as one of its “friendly countries,” whose ships are being allowed to pass through this crucial sea route, while other countries are being prevented by warnings of drone and missile attacks.

This development comes after Iran announced the temporary reopening of the strait on Friday, a day after a US-brokered 10-day ceasefire was announced between Israel and Lebanon.

India has stated that it is taking the incident seriously and supports free and safe navigation in this strategic route.
