New Delhi: India clinched another gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 after the men’s compound archery team defeated China in a thrilling final. The Indian trio of Sahil Jadhav, Kushal Dalal and Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam edged past China 238-237 to secure the country’s 10th gold medal of the Games.
The victory further strengthened India’s impressive performance in compound archery at the Asian Games 2026, with the country winning gold in the men’s, women’s and mixed compound archery events.
India Completes Gold-Medal Sweep in Compound Archery
India had already enjoyed success in the women’s compound archery event earlier in the day. Preethika Pradeep, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Chikita Taniparthi defeated China 238-234 in the women’s team gold-medal match, securing India’s seventh gold medal at the Games at that stage.
India also won the mixed compound archery event, with Sahil Jadhav and Chikitha Taniparthi defeating South Korea in a tense final that went to a shoot-off.
The three gold medals across the men’s, women’s and mixed compound archery events highlighted India’s strong showing in the discipline at the Asian Games 2026.
India’s Medal Tally Reaches 59
India’s medal tally has continued to rise during the latter stages of the Asian Games 2026. After a relatively slow start, the Indian contingent has increased its medal haul as the competition has progressed.
Following the men’s compound archery victory, India moved to seventh place in the medal standings, with 10 gold, 21 silver and 28 bronze medals, taking the country’s total to 59 medals.
India is also assured of another medal in men’s squash after the team reached the semi-finals. The Indian contingent will look to add more medals during the final days of the ongoing Asian Games 2026.
