Team India Wins Silver in Mixed 4x400m Relay at Asian Games 2026

Aichi-Nagoya: India won the silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Asian Games 2026 on Thursday, with a strong final-leg performance from Vithya Ramaraj helping the team secure second place.

The Indian quartet of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Manu TS and Vithya Ramaraj clocked 3:14.46 in the final. Bahrain won the gold medal with a Games-record time of 3:12.87, while Vietnam took bronze in 3:14.54.

Vithya Ramaraj Delivers Strong Final Leg

India started with Vishal Thennarasu, followed by Poovamma Raju and Manu TS before Vithya Ramaraj took charge of the final leg.

India was in third place heading into the closing stages, but Ramaraj produced a strong finishing burst to move the team into second and secure the silver medal.

India Defends Mixed Relay Silver

The result means India successfully defended the silver medal it won in the mixed 4x400m relay at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

India had also won gold in the event at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, making Thursday’s result the country’s third consecutive Asian Games medal in the mixed 4x400m relay.

The silver added another athletics medal to India’s campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
