New Delhi, February 1: India has categorically rejected Pakistan’s recent claims alleging Indian involvement in the violence in Balochistan, calling the accusations baseless and a tactic to divert attention from Pakistan’s own internal problems. The government’s response came after Islamabad made assertions linking New Delhi to coordinated attacks in the restive province.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly refuted the allegations, emphasising that Pakistan’s statements were part of a familiar pattern used to shift focus away from domestic challenges and longstanding issues in the region.
Reacting to media queries, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India “categorically rejects the baseless allegations made by Pakistan”, describing them as nothing more than “its usual tactics to deflect attention from its own internal failings.” He underlined that Islamabad should instead prioritise addressing the long-standing demands and grievances of its people in Balochistan, rather than making repeated accusations after every violent incident.
Jaiswal also highlighted Pakistan’s record of suppression, brutality and violations of human rights in the region, stating that these systemic issues should be the focus rather than unfounded claims against India.
The sharp diplomatic exchange follows coordinated violent incidents in Balochistan, where separatist groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) have claimed responsibility for attacks on security installations, police stations and other targets. Pakistani authorities have reported significant casualties among security forces, militants and civilians during the unrest.
In response, Pakistan’s Interior Minister and military officials alleged that foreign elements, including Indian support, were behind the unrest — allegations that New Delhi firmly denied.
In its statement, the MEA urged Pakistan to focus on resolving internal challenges in Balochistan, including longstanding political and socio-economic grievances, rather than resorting to “frivolous claims” against other countries. The statement emphasised that Pakistan’s approach of attributing internal violence to external actors undermines efforts to address root causes of unrest.
India’s firm rebuttal reflects its consistent foreign policy position that accusations without credible evidence are unhelpful and divert attention from serious domestic issues.
The Balochistan situation has been a source of tension and conflict for years, involving complex issues such as ethnic separatism, resource distribution and governance. Violence in the province has drawn international attention, and both domestic and foreign policy experts emphasise the importance of dialogue and internal reforms to achieve stability. India’s rejection of Pakistan’s allegations underscores the sensitive nature of regional diplomacy and the need for verified evidence before attributing responsibility for violent incidents.
