India rejects Pakistan’s comments on demarcation

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday strongly rejected Pakistan’s comments on the ongoing delimitation process in India.

Islamabad had reacted to reports that India’s Delimitation Bill 2026 creates a legal framework for demarcation of constituencies in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

‘No interference in India’s internal affairs’
During the weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India completely rejects any kind of interference in its internal affairs.

“India’s internal affairs are India’s and we do not accept any kind of comment or interference in them,” he said.

Discussion on Important Bills in Lok Sabha
This statement comes at a time when the Lok Sabha is currently debating three important bills related to women’s reservation and demarcation.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that these bills will be voted on after detailed discussion.

Debate in Parliament and Bills Introduced
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stated that the time for debate may be extended if necessary.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, along with other bills, in the House.

Voting Figures in Lok Sabha
Earlier, 251 members voted in favor of introducing the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, while 185 members opposed it.

The Speaker stated that these figures are not final and are subject to change.
