“India ready to end Russia-Ukraine War”, Says EAM Jaishankar in Kyiv

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday said India was ready to contribute in every possible way to efforts aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war, as he visited Kyiv for high-level diplomatic engagements.

“If India can be of any help, in any manner, we are there,” Jaishankar told reporters alongside Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, according to Reuters.

The External Affairs Minister is in Ukraine as part of a visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and discussing regional and international developments.

India Open to Supporting Peace Efforts

Jaishankar said India was prepared to play a constructive role in efforts to bring the conflict to an end.

During his discussions with Sybiha, the two sides also addressed the issue of attacks on commercial shipping in the Black Sea, amid continuing security concerns linked to the conflict.

Sybiha said he expected a “new dynamic” in international efforts to end the war, with political and diplomatic engagement once again becoming more active in capitals around the world.

Jaishankar Holds Talks With Ukrainian Leadership

Jaishankar’s visit includes bilateral consultations with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. He is also holding discussions with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit provides an opportunity for India and Ukraine to review their bilateral relationship and exchange views on regional developments and issues of mutual interest.

The visit comes amid continued efforts by various countries to support diplomatic avenues for resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Black Sea Attacks Also Discussed

The discussions assume significance following the latest escalation in the Black Sea, where Indian seafarers were among those killed and injured.

The safety of commercial shipping and the wider impact of the conflict on international trade routes remain key concerns as fighting continues.

India has maintained its position in favour of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict and has repeatedly stressed the need for a peaceful settlement.
