New Delhi: India sees Taiwan as a vital technology partner, particularly in the semiconductor sector, which offers a crucial pathway for economic growth, technological advancement and strategic autonomy, a media report said. An article in the Taipei Times noted that India has been engaging major Taiwanese companies, but broader institutional and industry-level awareness is needed.

Focus on education, science parks
The report highlighted the joint master’s programme in semiconductor technology between Taiwanese universities and the Indian Institute of Science as a promising step. It also suggested setting up a Taiwan science park in India to attract companies, deepen long-term collaboration and signal India’s commitment to high-tech partnerships.

Call for stronger diplomatic engagement
The article urged India to adopt a more confident approach toward Taiwan, expand official and parliamentary engagement, and move beyond excessive caution.
