India to host 2030 Commonwealth games

The government, as well as every Indian, wants India’s reputation to shine even brighter in the world of sports. We want India to host the 2036 Olympic Games, but before that, the 2030 Commonwealth Games will be held. More than 70 countries are participating in the Commonwealth Games. Nigeria wanted to host the Commonwealth Games in its home city of Ambuja, but India received priority. India has been approved to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Previously, the 2010 Commonwealth Games were held in India, where India won a total of 101 medals, including 38 gold medals. India finished second in these games.
It is well known that India consistently lags behind in the Olympic medal tally. Prime Minister Modi wants to make Ahmedabad, the capital of Gujarat, the country’s sports hub. India is striving to host the World Under-20 Championships in 2028, the World Senior Athletics Championships in 2031, and the World Aquatics Championships in 2033. India is also striving to host the 2036 Olympic Games, ensuring its inclusion among the world’s leading sporting nations. If the Commonwealth Games are successfully held, it will clearly strengthen our bid to host the Olympic Games. The 2030 Commonwealth Games include new sports such as cricket, T20, archery, badminton, cycling, driving, hockey, judo, shooting, and wrestling, which will further increase spectator interest.
While India will have to spend more to host these games, it will also generate greater revenue through sports tourism. As sports activities increase, sports equipment manufacturing industries will expand, thus providing employment. When India’s nomination to host the Commonwealth Games was announced at the Glasgow General Assembly, 20 Garba dancers and 30 drummers celebrated with Gujarati dances. Why was India considered eligible to host the Commonwealth Games? The answer is that India is strengthening its economic infrastructure and progressing. Public investment of 10-12 lakh crore rupees is being made here every year.

Therefore, the government has the financial capacity to successfully host these games. India already has stadiums, roads, metro trains, and bullet trains. By 2030, our economy could reach 7 trillion dollars, so we won’t have to build additional infrastructure, nor will it be a loss-making venture. Victoria gave up hosting for 2026 because it felt like a loss-making deal. We are a contender to host the 2036 Olympics. If India succeeds, it will become a major sporting power. When India hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010, it became a gateway to foreign investment. Three terminals were built at Delhi Airport. Delhi’s GDP increased.
The idea is to achieve the same in Ahmedabad. At that time, Phase 2 of the Metro was underway, carrying 800,000 passengers daily. Now, the number has increased to 50 to 550,000. Ahmedabad is one of 10 other cities included in the Metro project. Currently, we are increasing investment in multi-disciplinary sports and have also increased hotel capacity by 71 per cent, so hosting the Games will be a hassle-free experience. Gujarat will shine even brighter, and Ahmedabad will gain lasting branding like Singapore and Dubai. India’s hosting of the Commonwealth Games is undoubtedly another milestone in progress.
