New Delhi: Celebrations erupted across India on Sunday night after the national cricket team secured a seven-wicket win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai. Fans took to streets in multiple cities, waving tricolours, bursting crackers, and chanting slogans in celebration of India’s dominant performance.

In Siliguri, West Bengal, supporters danced and waved Indian flags, praising the team’s performance. “The Indian team played very well. The batting in the power play was excellent, and the entire team performed superbly,” an enthusiastic fan told ANI. Another supporter, Abhishek, said, “India played very well today… We felt very good that India defeated Pakistan.”

Punjab’s Zirakpur also witnessed large gatherings, where fans linked the victory to patriotic pride. One supporter said, “This victory was for Operation Sindoor… it was important to answer them, be it via sports or via war. We have responded through war, and this is through sports.”

In Delhi, fans noted the symbolic importance of the win. “I am happy that India won today… PM Modi avenged the Pahalgam attack, and today our players showed they are invincible,” a spectator remarked. Similar celebrations were reported in Nagpur, Prayagraj, Jammu, Patna, and Ayodhya, where sadhus were seen distributing sweets and supporters held banners featuring Indian players.

On the field, India chased a modest target of 128 runs in 15.5 overs, with captain Suryakumar Yadav top-scoring with an unbeaten 47 off 37 balls. Despite early resistance from Pakistan’s Saim Ayub in the powerplay, the Indian batting line-up cruised to victory with more than four overs to spare.

“Great feeling and a perfect return gift to India… You definitely want to win it, and when you win, you have it ready. For the whole team, we prepare the same for every opposition,” Yadav said after the match, reflecting on the team’s consistent approach.

The win reinforces India’s dominance over arch-rival Pakistan in major tournaments, sparking nationwide celebrations and cementing the team’s top spot in Group A at the ongoing Asia Cup.
