Toronto: A 30-year-old Indian-origin woman was found murdered in Toronto, prompting police to issue a Canada-wide arrest warrant for a suspect believed to be known to the victim. The woman has been identified as Himanshi Khurana, while the suspect has been named as Abdul Ghafoori (32), a Toronto resident.

Body Found After Missing Person Report

According to the Toronto Police, officers were first alerted late Friday night after receiving a missing person report from the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area at around 10:41 pm on December 19, 2025.

The following morning, police made a grim discovery.
“On Saturday, December 20, 2025, at approximately 6:30 am, officers located the missing female deceased inside a residence,” police said, confirming that the case is being treated as a homicide.

Suspect Known to Victim, Intimate Partner Violence Suspected

Police have confirmed that the victim and the suspect were known to each other. Investigators believe the case may involve intimate partner violence, according to a report by CBC News quoting law enforcement sources.

Abdul Ghafoori is currently wanted on charges of first-degree murder, which, if proven in court, carries the possibility of life imprisonment without parole. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and efforts are underway to locate and arrest the suspect.
