Indian Student Killed in Canada, Family Seeks Justice

Bhopal: The family of 23-year-old student Gurkirat Singh Manocha from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is in deep shock after he was brutally murdered in Canada, allegedly by his classmates.

Dispute with classmates was the motive

According to reports, Gurkirat was studying at Northern Lights College in Canada. On March 14, during a dispute with some youths in Fort St. John, he was severely beaten and allegedly run over by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.

An emotional appeal from the family

The family learned of the incident through a phone call from a friend. His brother said that 10-12 youths were involved in the attack. The family is now appealing to the government to bring their son’s body to India soon so that the last rites can be performed.

Investigation underway, mourning at home

Police are investigating the case and are awaiting the post-mortem report. Gurkirat had gone to Canada about a year ago after completing his studies at Vikram University in Ujjain. There is an atmosphere of mourning at his home, and his family is trying to come to terms with this tragic incident.
