Malaga (Spain): Indian golfers produced mixed performances at the halfway stage of the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana, the season-ending event of the Ladies European Tour (LET). While Aditi Ashok stayed close to the top 10, rookie Avani Prashanth made a strong jump into the top 20 after an impressive second round.

Aditi, a former champion of this event and playing on an invitation, carded a steady 2-under 70. She moved to a total of 5-under and was placed tied 11th after two rounds, just outside the top 10.

Avani Prashanth showed good form in the second round, signing for a 3-under 69. This helped her rise to tied 17th place at four-under overall, making her the best performer among the Indian players on the day.

Other Indians Face Tough Day

Among the remaining Indian golfers, Pranavi Urs shot a round of 71 and was tied 47th at one-over for the tournament. Diksha Dagar and Hitaashee Bakshi also struggled, finishing their rounds with scores of 75 and 76 respectively. Both were placed tied 64th at five-over total.

Avani, Pranavi and Hitaashee are coming fresh from top-five finishes at the Hero Women’s Indian Open and will be keen to finish strongly in the final two rounds of the tournament.

Trichat Cheenglab Takes Command

Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab stole the spotlight with a brilliant second-round performance. She fired a course-record 9-under 63 at the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf to take a commanding seven-shot lead at 15-under-par.

Cheenglab’s round included a series of birdies throughout the day and marked the best round of her Ladies European Tour career.

Italy’s Alessandra Fanali moved into second place with a fine 6-under 66, while France’s Nastasia Nadaud and Celine Herbin were tied for third at seven-under.

Order of Merit Battle Continues

With two rounds still to play, the focus is also on the LET Order of Merit race. England’s Mimi Rhodes and Singapore’s Shannon Tan remain close and will be paired together again as they continue their fight for the season title over the weekend.
