India’s textile exports grew 4.6% in four years, reaching over 100 countries

New Delhi: India’s textile and apparel exports, including handicrafts, are projected to grow from $31.58 billion in 2020–21 to $37.75 billion in 2024–25. Exports to over 100 countries increased during this period, Parliament was informed on Tuesday.

Garments and fibers provided strength
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said that despite changes in the global supply chain following the pandemic, India’s exports remained strong. Readymade garments, cotton, man-made fiber textiles, carpets, and handicrafts played a key role in this.

Government schemes support industry and artisans
The minister said that initiatives such as the PM MITRA Park, the PLI scheme, and the National Technical Textiles Mission have boosted infrastructure, investment, and innovation. At the same time, artisans and MSMEs are being benefited through schemes related to handloom and silk sector.
