IndiGo to Launch Daily Direct Flights Between Delhi and China from Nov 10

New Delhi: Low-cost carrier IndiGo on Saturday announced the launch of daily direct flights between New Delhi and Guangzhou, China, starting November 10, marking a significant expansion in air connectivity between the two Asian giants.

New Route Details and Schedule

The new route will be operated using IndiGo’s Airbus A320 aircraft, with services scheduled daily.

According to the airline, the Delhi–Guangzhou flight will depart at 9:45 p.m. and arrive at 4:40 a.m., while the return flight from Guangzhou will depart at 5:50 a.m. and reach Delhi at 10:10 a.m.

Boost to India-China Air Connectivity

IndiGo becomes one of the first airlines to reinstate passenger flights between India and China since the suspension of direct air links in 2020.

The announcement follows IndiGo’s earlier declaration of daily flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, set to commence on October 26.

IndiGo on Strengthening Bilateral Ties

“We are pleased to enhance our connectivity to China with daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, in addition to the recently resumed route from Kolkata,” said Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo.

“The resumption of operations between two of the world’s most populous nations presents immense potential for cultural exchange and economic collaboration,” he added.

With the new route, IndiGo connects China to its extensive domestic and expanding international network, providing increased options for trade, tourism, and education.

“We are confident this will accelerate opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, and education while reinforcing our commitment to connect India to the world,” Malhotra further noted.

Government Green Light and Wider Impact

The move comes shortly after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that India and China would resume direct passenger flights between designated cities this month.

No direct flights have operated between the two nations since 2020, despite China continuing to be India’s largest bilateral trade partner.

Aviation and trade experts say the restoration of air connectivity will not only facilitate smoother business travel but also boost cultural and tourism exchanges, signaling a cautious thaw in bilateral relations between New Delhi and Beijing.

Earlier on Saturday, IndiGo also announced a daily direct service between Delhi and Hanoi, commencing December 20, 2025.

The airline will operate its Airbus A320 aircraft on this route as well, enhancing connectivity from India’s capital to Vietnam’s vibrant cultural and commercial hub.
