IndiGo Launches Repatriation Flights Amid Middle East Crisis

New Delhi: In light of the ongoing tense situation in the Middle East and Persian Gulf region, low-cost airline IndiGo announced the resumption of repatriation flights on Tuesday. The airline stated that this move was taken in coordination with the Indian government and authorities in the relevant countries.

 Special Flights to Jeddah and Muscat

Four IndiGo flights are currently operating to Jeddah, while one flight is scheduled to operate to and from Muscat.

According to the airline, more scheduled flights and additional seat capacity will be made available starting Wednesday. IndiGo will resume its services in a phased manner, giving top priority to safety.

Services will resume to these destinations

IndiGo will resume services to the following destinations, subject to current airspace conditions and necessary permissions:

Middle East: Muscat, Jeddah, Medina
Europe: Athens

A total of 13 return flights (26 sectors) are planned.

Repatriation flights are also being prepared for March 4th at stations in the UAE, although this will depend on local conditions and approvals.

Situation closely monitored

The airline stated that it is continuously monitoring the situation for all other stations and coordinating with the relevant authorities for local slots and permits.

IndiGo has urged passengers to keep checking the airline’s website and social media platforms for the latest information.

UAE Airlines Also Resume Limited Flights

Meanwhile, UAE-based airlines Emirates and Etihad Airways resumed limited flights from the evening of March 2.

Dubai Airports confirmed that some special flights have been allowed from Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC).

The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority has advised passengers not to travel to the airport until confirmation from the airlines.

However, a timeline for the full resumption of normal operations has not yet been clarified.
