Japan: At least 14 people were injured in a knife attack at a rubber factory in Japan on Friday. The attacker also sprayed an unknown liquid, emergency officials said. The incident occurred in central Japan, AFP confirmed.
Attack at Mishima City Factory
According to media reports, a man armed with a knife attacked people at a rubber factory in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Japanese media, including public broadcaster NHK, reported that the attacker was arrested at the scene and is suspected of attempted murder.
Emergency services active at the scene
Tomoharu Sugiyama, an official with the Mishima City Fire Department, said that 14 people were taken to the hospital by emergency services, of which at least six were transported by multiple ambulances.
The official said the fire department received a call around 4:30 p.m., reporting that “five to six people had been stabbed and a spray-like liquid had been used.”
Investigation ongoing, conditions monitored
Details about the condition of the injured have not yet been released. However, according to NHK, all are conscious.
