New Delhi: A woman allegedly hurled an ink-like liquid at Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke while he was addressing supporters at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. The incident briefly disrupted the protest and triggered commotion among those present.

The woman emerged from the crowd and threw the liquid at Dipke as he was speaking from the stage. Supporters immediately rushed towards him, while police are expected to investigate the incident. The identity of the woman and her motive are yet to be established.

Incident follows hunger strike announcement

The incident occurred shortly after Dipke announced that he would begin an indefinite hunger strike in protest against the removal of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from the demonstration site.

Dipke alleged that Wangchuk had been forcibly removed by the police and vowed that the protest would continue despite the action.

Protest over NEET paper leak issue

The CJP has been protesting at Jantar Mantar since June 6, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET paper leak case.

Sonam Wangchuk joined the protest and began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28. On Saturday morning, Delhi Police shifted him to a hospital after his health deteriorated, stating that the move was carried out in compliance with the Delhi High Court’s directions and on medical advice.

The ink-throwing incident took place shortly after Wangchuk’s removal from the protest site, adding to the tensions at the demonstration.
