1150 Hajj pilgrims die in Saudi till now: pilgrims fell prey to fraud by tourist operators

Saudi Arabia has not yet released the total death toll of its citizens, so it is feared that the death toll will increase further. Out of the 658 Hajj pilgrims who died in Egypt, 630 had gone for Hajj without visa. Egypt has formed a crisis center to deal with this terrible problem.

According to CNN report, the bodies of the pilgrims who died during Hajj pilgrimage were lying on the roads. The rest of the pilgrims were going for Hajj through these. The major reason behind the death of a large number of Hajj pilgrims this year is the extreme heat and scorching summers.

Many Hajj pilgrims died due to heat stroke as the temperature in Mecca reached 42 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees. According to the Saudi government, so far more than 2,700 Hajj pilgrims have been affected by heat stroke.

Tour operators promised wrong packages, no facilities on the spot

However, Egyptian MP Mahmoud Qasim has accused the tour operators of cheating the Hajj pilgrims. He said that many Hajj pilgrims were not given proper facilities by the tour operators, due to which they had to face difficulties and this led to their death.

16 companies’ licenses canceled in Egypt and minister suspend in Tunisia

Egypt has taken major action against tour operator companies cheating Hajj pilgrims. PM Mustafa has ordered the cancellation of licenses of 16 companies. Apart from this, orders have also been given to prosecute these companies and impose fines.

The amount seized from the fine has been asked to be distributed among the victims of accidents during the Hajj pilgrimage. On the other hand, due to the large number of deaths, the President of Tunisia dismissed the Minister of Religious Affairs.

The problem increased more due to coming to Hajj without registration

A special Hajj visa is required for Hajj pilgrimage. However, some people come to Saudi with a tourist visa instead. According to the Saudi official, the crowd increased this time due to coming to Hajj without registration.
