54 year old Nepalese mountaineer breaks his own record, conquers Mount Everest for 29th time

Kami Rita Sherpa, known as Nepal's 'Everest Man', broke his own record by climbing the world's highest peak Mount Everest for the 29th time on Sunday morning.

Kathmandu : Kami Rita Sherpa, known as Nepal’s ‘Everest Man’, broke his own record by climbing the world’s highest peak Mount Everest for the 29th time on Sunday morning.

The 54-year-old Sherpa, who was guiding foreign climbers, reached the 8,848-meter-high peak at 7:25 a.m. local time, said Khim Lal Gautam, field office chief of Nepal’s Department of Tourism.

Trekking started at the end of April
Prior to the summit, Kami Rita said that he had no plans to climb Sagarmatha (the Nepali name for Mount Everest) for any set number.

According to tourism department officials, the record-setting mountaineer, leading an expedition organized by ‘Seven Summit Treks’, reached the summit of Everest at 7:25 am (NST) on Sunday.
