Amid lashing rain, the Indian embassy organizes Yoga Day celebrations in Tokyo

Amid lashing rain in the country, Tokyo celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga, on Friday.

Tokyo: International Yoga Day was celebrated with full zeal here at the Indian embassy in Japan. Yoga Day celebrations were organised here at Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple.

The celebration witnessed immense participation from across the country, including diplomats and the Indian diaspora. What was astonishing in the entire program was, people in large number performed Yoga in the lashing rain. The Indian embassy in Tokyo shared a post on X, stating “Rain or Shine Yoga in Japan”.

Amid lashing rain in the country, Tokyo celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga, on Friday.

“RAIN OR SHINE YOGA IN JAPAN: Celebrations of the 10th IDY by @IndianEmbTokyo at Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, witnessed an overwhelming participation from Japanese Leadership, diplomats, Yoga enthusiasts & friends of India in Japan,” the post read.

This year marks the 10th International Day of Yoga and is being celebrated under the theme ‘Yoga for self and society’.
Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolising the union of body and consciousness.
