Balochistan: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a prominent human rights organization, has voiced its deep concern over the ongoing violence against Baloch youth. In a post on X, the BYC stated, “The systematic targeting of Baloch individuals, many of whom have been forcibly disappeared for extended periods, demonstrates a recurring pattern of genocide against the Baloch people.”

The committee highlighted the plight of several Baloch victims who, after enduring torture, were subsequently murdered by state-supported death squads. They recounted the distressing case of Niyaz Baloch from Surbandan, Gwadar, who was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on May 12, 2024. After enduring severe torture, Niyaz was handed over to the police and has since been facing fabricated legal charges. Recently, he survived an assassination attempt by these state-backed death squads, although a minor child was injured in the shooting and had to be hospitalized.

The BYC condemned this ongoing cycle of brutal violence, emphasizing that it is intended to silence Baloch communities and instill fear. They urged the Baloch people to unite against these acts of violence and resist them at all costs.

Earlier, the BYC had reported an increase in cases of abductions, detentions, and disappearances in Balochistan under the guise of security measures. The region grapples with significant issues such as state oppression, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings of activists and civilians, all while facing economic neglect and a lack of basic infrastructure and political autonomy. Mahrang Baloch, a BYC organizer, previously highlighted the abduction of Baloch woman Asma Baloch, noting that Balochistan remains one of the most perilous areas for human rights.
