Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that his government is collaborating with U.S. President Donald Trump’s team to advance efforts for peace and resolve the conflict with Russia.
In a post on X, Zelensky stated, “We have started working with President Trump’s team and are seeing promising outcomes. The world is looking to America as the nation capable of not only ending the war but also ensuring lasting peace. Ahead of the Munich Security Conference, I had a productive conversation with President Trump, and met with Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio.”
He also mentioned the upcoming visit of General Kellogg to Ukraine, aimed at analyzing the situation and exploring viable solutions from President Trump that could lead to a sustainable peace. Zelensky expressed confidence that their negotiations would result in an agreement that would benefit both the United States and Ukraine.
At the Munich Security Conference, Zelensky emphasized his hopes for President Trump’s support, acknowledging, “I really count on him as the president of the U.S.”
However, he also noted that U.S. backing for Europe is changing, saying, “The old days are over when America supported Europe simply because it always had.”
In related news, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke over the phone and discussed various matters, including a potential meeting between President Putin and President Trump. They agreed to keep communication open to address challenges in U.S.-Russia relations, with an emphasis on improving trade and cooperation.
Anticipated peace talks between Trump and Putin are set to take place in Saudi Arabia soon.
