Cam Ranh Bay [Vietnam]: The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron arrived at Cam Ranh Bay on February 20, as reported by the Ministry of Defence. The squadron, consisting of INS Sujata and ICGS Veera, was warmly welcomed by the Vietnam People’s Navy and members of the Indian mission in Vietnam.
This visit aims to enhance the enduring friendship and expanding partnership between the two countries. During their stay, the squadron will engage in various activities, including cross-training visits, professional exchanges, and community interactions, including a visit to the Vietnam Naval Academy. The visit will culminate in joint exercises with the Vietnam People’s Navy and Coast Guard, aimed at improving interoperability and sharing best practices.
India and Vietnam have a comprehensive strategic partnership, which was further solidified by the recent visit of Vietnam’s Prime Minister to India in August. The Ministry of Defence emphasized that this deployment aligns with the Indian government’s broader initiative to bolster capacity building and regional maritime security, in line with the vision of Security And Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
The Indian Navy also shared details of the port call on X, stating, “Building #BridgesofFriendship #1TS ships #INSSujata & #ICGSVeera arrived at Cam Ranh Bay, #Vietnam on #20Feb to a warm welcome by the #VietnamPeoplesNavy and members of @AmbHanoi.
